Sunset Yoga Center Announces Four Week Introduction to Yoga Series for Summer 2014
Want to get started learning yoga fundamentals in a small class setting? Sunset Yoga Center is offering several four week introduction to yoga series over the summer to help you learn yoga in a safe, systematic and fun setting. The series will cover basic standing poses, seated poses, twists and reclining poses. Relaxation and gentle breath work will also be included. After completing a series, you are ready to join ongoing level 1 or gentle classes!
Here are the offerings for Summer 2014:
Sunday June 1, 8, 15 and 22nd from 5-6 pm with Amy Duncan
Tuesday June 3, 10 17, and 24th from 7:30-8:30 pm with Lisa Incognito
Friday June 20, 27 and July 11 and 19th from noon-1 pm with Amy Duncan (no class on the Fourth of July)
Friday August 1, 8, 15 and 22nd from noon – 1 pm with Amy Duncan
Each series is only $45 for four classes. You can register here to let us know you are coming. All equipment is provided, including yoga mats, straps, blankets, etc.
The teachers’ biographies follow:
Lisa Incognito brings compassion and a warm sense of humor to each yoga class. She began practicing Iyengar yoga in 2006, and finds joy in sharing the physical, mental and emotional benefits of yoga with others. She has attended workshops with nationally recognized Iyengar instructors Felicity Green and Marla Apt. Lisa is working towards becoming a certified Iyengar yoga instructor through her apprenticeship with Nina Pileggi.
Amy Duncan has studied Iyengar Yoga since 1993. She began teaching yoga in 2002. She has trained and apprenticed with Portland-area and nationally recognized Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructors. Her focus is on the correct alignment in each pose, bringing understanding, perception and humor to each of her classes. Amy became a Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor in the fall of 2012 and continues to grown and learn on the yogic path.
