Beginning March 10, Sunset Yoga Center will offer a prenatal yoga class, taught by Sally Hoesing, R.N., an experienced labor and delivery nurse. Moms-to-be at all stages of pregnancy are invited to join Sally on Sunday mornings from 9 to 10 a.m.
Sally Hoesing holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and a degree in Nursing. She incorporates her experience as a Labor & Delivery RN into her prenatal classes and adventures as a mama to influence her love for supporting postpartum mothers.
During labor, Sally found that her own yoga practice helped to truly stay in the moment with each contraction. She believes yoga can help women tune into their bodies and reach a more meditative state, even in those intense moments birthing a baby can create! After delivery she was able to use the wisdom found in yoga to help her regain balance and strength. In addition to her own weekly classes, Sally finders herself at home practicing with her daughters. It is easy to see the ecstasy in their faces as they playfully move their bodies through asanas/poses and she is overjoyed to share this love with them.
Sally began studying Iyengar yoga in 2000. She has completed a Teacher Training course with Julie Lawrence and is currently working toward Iyengar Certification. She regularly takes two classes per week with her teachers, Julie Gudmestad and Julie Lawrence, as well as regularly studying with Senior certified instructors. Iyengar yoga focuses on correct alignment, which helps bring balance to the body, both physically and intellectually.
